Stone of Erech card art
Stone of Erech shuts down graveyard recursion and token-copying effects at instant speed for a single colorless mana — the effect is real and the cost is almost nothing. It's a staple in Umbris, Fear Manifest builds that want to exile rather than mill, and a reasonable inclusion in any deck that punishes opponents for leaning on their yard.

Umbris, Fear Manifest

Umbris, Fear Manifest

46.2% of decks · synergy 0.44

Umbris, Fear Manifest exiles cards from libraries and graveyards to grow, and Stone of Erech locks opponents out of the recursion and copy effects that would let them recover from that pressure — it's a direct enabler of the nightmare the deck is trying to create.

03
Lara Croft, Tomb Raider

Lara Croft, Tomb Raider

24.3% of decks · synergy 0.24

Lara Croft, Tomb Raider cares about artifacts entering play and interacting with them, and Stone of Erech fills a cheap artifact slot while providing a hate effect that pays off in any graveyard-heavy pod.

04
Queen Kayla bin-Kroog

Queen Kayla bin-Kroog

21.7% of decks · synergy 0.21

Queen Kayla bin-Kroog's ability discards and deploys low-cost artifacts and creatures, and Stone of Erech fits cleanly into that curve as a zero-cost-equivalent piece that doubles as graveyard disruption.

Commander is where Stone of Erech earns its keep — graveyard recursion, Reanimate effects, and token doublers are everywhere in the format, and a colorless one-mana artifact that answers all of them at instant speed is easy to slot into any deck with a graveyard hate subtheme. In Legacy and Vintage, dedicated hate pieces like Rest in Peace and Leyline of the Void do the job more thoroughly, so Stone of Erech rarely makes the cut outside of fringe artifact-matters builds. It's legal in Oathbreaker with the same logic as Commander — fine role-player, rarely the best option available. Pioneer, Standard, and Pauper don't have access to it.

Price Context

Current price

$0.31 bulk tier

At $0.31, Stone of Erech is bulk — you're not paying for the effect, you're basically getting it free. That price is stable; it's not a card with spike potential, but it's cheap enough that there's no reason to skip it if the effect fits your deck.
