Stone Idol Trap puts a 6/12 trampler on the board — one of the largest single bodies you can make for one mana when an opponent has attacked with three or more creatures. The ceiling is absurd for the price, but the condition means it sits dead in hand against slower or more controlling tables.

In Commander, Stone Idol Trap is a niche but legitimate piece of threat-reactive tech — someone at a four-player table is almost always attacking with three creatures, so the reduced cost is reliable and a 6/12 trample token for one or two mana can swing a game on the spot. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but the Trap is simply too slow and conditional for those formats, where games end before wide attacks become common. Modern has the card pool to support token-flooding strategies that could make the condition consistent, but dedicated threat payoffs are much stronger in that environment and the Trap sees no real play. Stone Idol Trap is Commander-specific in practice, despite its broader legality.

Price Context
Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Stone Idol Trap is pure bulk — you're paying almost nothing for a card with genuine upside in the right shell. Bulk rares with niche Commander appeal rarely climb unless they hit a popular deck list, so expect the price to stay in this range indefinitely.
