Stitcher's Apprentice gives you a repeatable 2/2 Homunculus token for two mana at instant speed — the catch is you sacrifice another creature to make it, so you're trading raw card equity for a body that can reset itself. It's a build-around, not a standalone: without a deck engineered around sacrifice synergies or token ETBs, it does nothing.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Stitcher's Apprentice is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it sees essentially zero competitive play in any 60-card format — the effect is too low-impact to survive the efficiency bar of Legacy or Modern. In Pauper, the cost of feeding it a creature every activation makes it awkward without dedicated sacrifice infrastructure. Commander is where Stitcher's Apprentice actually functions: sacrifice-value commanders — think aristocrats strategies or token-doubler shells — can loop the activation for triggers, and the instant speed matters when you want to respond to a board wipe by converting a token into a fresh body.

Price Context
Current price
unknown tier
Pricing data isn't currently available for Stitcher's Apprentice, but given its narrow application and the depth of competition at common rarity, expect it to sit near bulk — almost certainly under $0.50 and likely under $0.25 at most vendors. It's worth picking up in a bulk order if you're building a dedicated sacrifice deck, but not worth a separate purchase.
