Stinging Licid turns itself into an Aura that drains the equipped creature for 1 each upkeep — persistent, repeatable life loss that your opponent can't easily shake without paying blue mana. The setup cost is real: 1U to activate, and your opponent can pay 1U to break the lock, which makes it fragile in blue-heavy metas.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Stinging Licid sees its most plausible home, slotted into life-drain or Licid-tribal shells where the incremental damage stacks across multiple opponents over a long game. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but entirely outclassed — the effect is too slow and too interruptible to matter in those formats. Stinging Licid is essentially a Commander-only card in practice, and even there it needs a dedicated build to justify the slot.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Stinging Licid is deep bulk — you're not buying this for financial upside. It holds that price floor because demand is narrow enough that there's no meaningful market pressure in either direction.
