Stillmoon Cavalier is a recursive, evasive threat that blanks two of the most common removal colors in the game — black can't target it, white can't target it, and it flies over most boards. The cost is real: three mana for a 2/1 is below-rate, and pumping it once costs another mana, so it asks a lot to become a genuine finisher.

In Commander, Stillmoon Cavalier earns its slot almost exclusively in Orzhov or mono-black builds that want a recursive evasive threat against removal-heavy tables — the protection from black and white shuts down a surprising portion of the average pod's targeted interaction. In Modern and Legacy, the card has never found a home; three mana for a 2/1 that requires additional investment to trade up is too slow against the threats those formats put out on turns one and two. Vintage has the raw power density to make the Cavalier irrelevant by comparison. It's a Commander card through and through, and even there it's a role-player rather than a staple.

Price Context
Current price
$2.85 cheap tier
At $2.85, Stillmoon Cavalier sits in cheap territory — fair for a niche role-player with narrow but genuine protection utility. Demand is low enough that the price is stable, not climbing; buy it if the deck wants it, don't expect it to appreciate.
