Stern Proctor bounces any artifact or enchantment back to its owner's hand the moment it enters — a two-mana tempo hit that doubles as removal in decks that can abuse enter-the-battlefield triggers. The cost is real: you're not destroying anything, and a savvy opponent just replays the threat next turn.

In Commander, Stern Proctor earns its slot in blink and flicker shells where replaying it repeatedly turns a temporary bounce into sustained disruption — think Aminatou, the Fateshifter or Brago, King Eternal. Outside of those strategies, two mana for a bounce that doesn't answer the problem permanently is underwhelming in a 100-card format where threats are everywhere. In Legacy and Vintage, the card is legal but thoroughly outclassed by Repeal, Echoing Truth, and Hurkyl's Recall, all of which trade up in efficiency. Stern Proctor is a Commander card, and a niche one at that.

Price Context
Current price
$0.25 bulk tier
At $0.25, Stern Proctor is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not demand. Price is unlikely to move unless a high-profile blink commander pushes it into broader circulation, so grab a copy if the synergy fits and don't think twice about the cost.
