Steppe Glider is a four-mana 2/4 with flying, vigilance, and a tap-to-pump ability that hands out +1/+1 and flying to another creature with a +1/+1 counter on it — playable if your deck manufactures those counters, borderline unplayable if it doesn't. The body is passable but the ability is parasitic, which keeps Steppe Glider firmly in niche territory.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Steppe Glider sees essentially no play in competitive formats — Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage all have far more efficient ways to get flying bodies or counter synergies, and a four-mana 2/4 doesn't clear the bar in any of them. Commander is the only realistic home, and even there it needs a dedicated +1/+1 counters shell to earn its slot — think Atraxa, Praetors' Voice or Skullbriar, the Walking Grave builds that are already generating counters at scale. Outside of that context, Steppe Glider is outclassed by cheaper or more self-sufficient alternatives.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Steppe Glider is deep bulk — it costs less than the sleeve you'd put it in. There's no meaningful price floor to protect here, and given its narrow application, don't expect that to change.
