Squealing Devil hits the table and immediately shaves a point of toughness off every creature an opponent controls until end of turn — a mass -1/-1 effect stapled to a 2/1 body for three mana. It's narrow enough that only dedicated go-wide token or sacrifice strategies want it, but in those shells it punches above its bulk price tag.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Squealing Devil is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but competitive Legacy and Modern have zero interest in a three-mana 2/1 with a conditional toughness debuff. Commander is where it actually matters: token-flood decks can use the ETB to clear away chump blockers or push lethal damage through, and sacrifice loops that bounce or recur creatures can trigger it repeatedly. Outside of a purpose-built synergy shell, it doesn't make the cut in any format.

Price Context
Current price
$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Squealing Devil is deep bulk — you're not buying it for the spec, you're buying it because it fits a specific slot and costs nothing to try. Don't expect the price to move; niche tribal and sacrifice staples at this price point stay flat unless a high-profile deck puts them on camera.
