The five-mana cost is real, but Slimefoot, the Stowaway turns that token flood into a damage engine immediately, making the price tag irrelevant by the time the stack resolves.

Spontaneous Generation is a Commander card, full stop. Legacy and Vintage allow it, but the powered environments of those formats have no patience for a five-mana sorcery that doesn't win the game outright. In Commander, the math flips: a late-game board of eight to twelve Saprolings at instant speed is genuinely threatening, and the multiplayer life totals give you time to exploit them.
