Spoils of Blood converts a board wipe into a free Thrull token for every creature that died — run it with Massacre Girl and a loaded board and you're suddenly staring at a 10/10 or larger for one black mana. One mana at instant speed for that kind of payoff is the whole deal.

Massacre Girl
Massacre Girl's ability to chain -1/-1 counters across the whole table routinely kills dozens of creatures at once, and Spoils of Blood turns that body count directly into a single massive Thrull token — the more creatures she sweeps, the more absurd the token gets.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Spoils of Blood actually lives — multiplayer boards are consistently stacked with creatures, so a board wipe or sacrifice outlet reliably converts into a token with double-digit stats. Legacy and Vintage have access to it, but those formats rarely want a do-nothing enchantment setup when the game is over faster than you can capitalize on the token. Oathbreaker functions similarly to Commander and can support the same death-trigger shell. Outside those formats, Spoils of Blood is not legal, which is fine — it was never built for 60-card environments anyway.

Price Context
Current price
$1.70 cheap tier
At $1.70, Spoils of Blood sits in the budget-staple tier — cheap enough to slot in without deliberation if the deck wants it. Narrow cards in this price range tend to stay flat, so don't expect movement either direction.
