Splendor Mare card art
Splendor Mare enters the battlefield and immediately gives every Horse you control lifelink, turning a tribal board state into a life-gain engine on the spot. At three mana, it's cheap enough that Thurid, Mare of Destiny decks run it as a matter of course — the payoff is too immediate to pass up.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Thurid, Mare of Destiny

Thurid, Mare of Destiny

64.8% of decks · synergy 0.64

Thurid, Mare of Destiny triggers off life gain, and Splendor Mare retroactively grants lifelink to every Horse already in play — meaning the turn it enters, every attack step starts feeding Thurid's counters and draw engine at once.

02
Emiel the Blessed

Emiel the Blessed

18.9% of decks · synergy 0.18

Emiel the Blessed's blink ability turns enters-the-battlefield effects into repeatable value, and flickering Splendor Mare re-applies its lifelink grant each time, keeping the passive live even through removal.

03
Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn

Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn

17.8% of decks · synergy 0.17

Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn converts life gain into +1/+1 counters at end of turn, and Splendor Mare ensures every Horse swinging through combat is generating that life — stacking multiple triggers without any additional investment.

In Commander, Splendor Mare is a role-player, not a build-around — it slots into any Horse-tribal list and pulls real weight in dedicated Thurid, Mare of Destiny decks where the lifelink grant compounds every turn. Outside Commander, the card has essentially no competitive presence: Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy all lack the Horse synergy density needed to justify a three-mana enchantment creature that does nothing without tribal context. Oathbreaker is the one fringe exception, where a Horse-focused build could replicate the same Thurid-style engine at a smaller table.

Price Context

Current price

$0.16 bulk tier

At $0.16, Splendor Mare is firmly bulk — you're paying for a functional tribal piece with no speculative premium attached. It's a safe pickup at this price; Horse tribal is niche enough that demand won't spike it, but dedicated Thurid players will always want the copy.
