Spinal Centipede is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but competitive play ignores it across the board. In Commander it finds its only real home: -1/-1 counter commanders like Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons or Skullbriar, the Walking Grave can chain its death trigger into snakes or additional counters, which makes the low rate acceptable in bulk. In Pauper it's a common, but the format's creature-quality bar is high enough that a vanilla-ish 2/2 with a marginal death trigger doesn't make the cut. Everywhere else, Spinal Centipede is strictly outclassed.
