Spectral Force is a 7/7 trampler for five mana that untaps during each opponent's upkeep as long as you control a Swamp — in a black-green shell, that's effectively a free reset every round. The cost is real: mono-green decks without black splash get a vanilla beatstick, and five mana is a lot to ask before the engine comes online.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Spectral Force actually earns its slot — black-green goodstuff and Golgari-adjacent commanders can reliably fuel the Swamp condition, and a recurring 7/7 trampler that refuels every upkeep applies serious pressure across a four-player table. In Legacy and Vintage it's a non-starter; the format is too fast and too interactive for a five-mana creature that needs a land type to justify itself. Modern is technically legal but Spectral Force sees no play there — five mana buys Primeval Titan, and there's no comparison. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander read: viable in black-green shells, irrelevant everywhere else.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Spectral Force is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. That price is stable because demand is low and supply is high, so don't expect movement in either direction.
