Sowing Salt permanently removes every copy of a named nonbasic land from the game — not just one, all of them, across all libraries, graveyards, and hands. Four mana for a sorcery is a real cost, but when it hits, the target land stops existing in that game entirely.

In Commander, Sowing Salt occupies a narrow but real niche: hosing lands that a single player's deck depends on, like Cabal Coffers or Gaea's Cradle, where exiling the one on the battlefield and all copies elsewhere means they're gone for the game. Legacy and Vintage are too fast for a four-mana sorcery to matter outside of very specific prison builds. Modern has largely outpaced it — land destruction at this cost doesn't compete with the format's speed. Sowing Salt is a Commander card in practice, best slotted into red decks that want to punish high-value utility lands or disrupt combo-reliant mana bases.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Sowing Salt is deep bulk — the price reflects that it's a narrow, slow effect in most formats. It holds that floor comfortably; there's no pressure driving it higher, and no reason to expect movement.
