Souls of the Faultless turns every attack into a liability for your opponents — each creature that swings at you loses a power's worth of life while yours climbs by the same amount. Three mana for a 0/3 that generates a life-swing on contact is a genuine deterrent, not a speed bump.

In Commander, Souls of the Faultless earns its slot in Orzhov and Esper lifegain shells as a reliable blocker that generates value passively — three or four opponents means three or four chances per combat for the life-drain trigger to fire. In Legacy and Vintage it's essentially unplayable; the formats move too fast for a 0/3 that doesn't interact on the stack and can be freely ignored by any deck not invested in attacking. Modern has similar issues — aggressive decks will route around it or remove it cheaply, and the effect isn't powerful enough to build around. Souls of the Faultless is a Commander card through and through, specifically in metas where combat is a primary threat vector.

Current price
$0.84 bulk tier
At $0.84, Souls of the Faultless sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to pick up without a second thought. It's a niche card with a narrow home, so don't expect the price to move meaningfully in either direction.
