Soulquake clears every creature off the board and returns them all to hand — opponents included — for seven mana at sorcery speed. That's a legitimate reset button, and the symmetry hurts blue less than almost anyone else at the table.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Soulquake actually lives — seven mana is a real ask, but multi-opponent tables mean you're bouncing three or four boards simultaneously, which no single-target bounce effect can match. In Legacy and Vintage the card is technically legal but functionally irrelevant; seven mana at sorcery speed competes with formats where the game is already over on turn two. Oathbreaker can support it in slower, grindier builds where the planeswalker-plus-signature-spell structure creates enough late-game inevitability to justify the cost.

Price Context
Current price
$0.19 bulk tier
At $0.19, Soulquake is pure bulk — there's no financial barrier to picking it up. Prices this low rarely move unless a commander in a precon directly enables the card, so treat it as a cheap include rather than a hold.
