Sol Grail card art
Sol Grail enters and immediately adds one colorless mana to everything you cast for the rest of the game — a permanent cost reduction stapled to a one-mana artifact. It's not Sol Ring, but for decks that lean heavily on colorless spells or just want another ritual-adjacent piece, Sol Grail earns its slot without debate.

In Commander, Sol Grail slots cleanly into any deck that wants early mana acceleration — its effect stacks with cost reducers and scales well across a long game. Pauper is where it gets genuinely interesting: at common, it competes for the same role as Medallion effects that simply don't exist at that rarity, making it a meaningful inclusion in artifact-heavy or colorless-leaning builds. Legacy and Vintage both have access to it, but the power ceiling in those formats is high enough that Sol Grail rarely clears the bar for a deck slot. Oathbreaker, like Commander, rewards cheap permanents that generate ongoing value, so Sol Grail is a reasonable pick there too.

Price Context

Current price

$0.27 bulk tier

At $0.27, Sol Grail is deep bulk — you'll find it in a common box or a bulk lot before you'd ever pay retail. Bulk commons with genuine utility tend to hold this floor indefinitely, so there's no urgency to stockpile, but there's also no reason to hesitate on picking up a copy.
