Sokenzan Renegade enters as a 3/2 haste for two mana when you control three or more legendary permanents — a clean rate for a creature that hits the same turn it lands. Below that threshold it's a vanilla 1/1 for two, which means it earns a slot only in decks that can reliably hit the legend count.

In Commander, Sokenzan Renegade belongs in Legendary-tribal and Samurai builds where the three-legend threshold is trivially met by turn three or four — Isshin, Two Heavens as One lists and Myojin-heavy piles are natural fits. Outside of those shells it's too conditional to justify a slot when two-mana haste enablers with unconditional text exist. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage the bar for a 3/2 haste at two mana is real but narrow; Goblin and Samurai aggro shells can use it, though the legend dependency makes it unreliable in multiples. It's not legal in Pioneer, Standard, or Pauper, so the conversation ends there.

$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Sokenzan Renegade is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in with any order. Bulk rares with narrow conditions don't typically climb unless a dedicated commander pushes them, so treat it as a cheap role-player rather than a spec.
