Slitherhead is a zero-mana 1/1 that scavenges itself from the graveyard for free, putting a +1/+1 counter on a creature without spending a card or a mana. The on-board impact is small, but the cost is nothing — that math is good enough for any deck that cares about +1/+1 counters.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Slitherhead earns a slot in any Golgari or Jund counter-based build — commanders like Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons or Vorosh, the Hunter treat the free scavenge activation as a no-overhead trigger engine. Pauper is where Slitherhead is most competitively relevant, slotting into Golgari graveyard and +1/+1 counter shells that can chain free activations for real tempo. In Modern and Legacy, Slitherhead is too small to see serious play — the free scavenge is cute, but neither format needs a 1/1 for zero that doesn't immediately threaten the board. Pioneer has similar issues: the effect is real but the ceiling is too low for the format's speed.

Price Context
Current price
$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Slitherhead is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. It holds that price floor because the effect is niche but consistently in demand for counter-synergy Commander builds, so don't expect it to move in either direction.
