Slickshot Show-Off card art
Slickshot Show-Off hits the table as a two-mana flying threat that snowballs immediately — every noncreature spell you cast pumps it with +1/+0 counters and grants evasion, turning a single spell-heavy turn into lethal damage out of nowhere. The cost is real: it demands a spell-dense shell to be more than a 2/1 flier, and it folds to any removal before you untap, but in the right deck that risk is worth taking.

In Commander, Slickshot Show-Off is a legitimate threat in Izzet spell-slinger builds — it's cheap enough to deploy early and dangerous enough to demand an answer before you untap, which is a real ask in a 100-card singleton format where disruption is spread thin. In Pioneer and Modern it sees play in prowess-adjacent aggressive strategies, where the density of cheap cantrips and burn spells can make it a turn-three kill piece. Legacy has better options at the same slot, but Slickshot Show-Off isn't embarrassing there — it just has stiff competition. Standard and Pioneer are where it has the most structural support right now, with enough cheap noncreature spells to reliably trigger it multiple times on the turn it attacks.
