Slaying Fire deals 3 damage to any target — and if you control a Spectacle permanent, it deals 4. Three mana for conditional four-damage is fine removal, but in most formats cheaper options exist, so Slaying Fire earns its slot only when the Spectacle upgrade is reliably live.

In Commander, Slaying Fire is a passable but unexceptional piece of removal — 3 damage rarely kills commanders outright, and the Spectacle bonus requires your opponents to have taken damage this turn, a condition you don't always control. Competitive red decks in Modern and Pioneer have access to Lightning Bolt, Unholy Heat, and other spells that do more for less, leaving Slaying Fire without a real home there. Legacy is the same story: the card is legal but the bar is simply too high. Slaying Fire is most at home in a dedicated Spectacle shell, where the upgrade to 4 damage is consistent and the incremental edge over cheaper burn actually matters.

Current price
$0.13 bulk tier
At $0.13, Slaying Fire is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. That price is stable by definition: there's no demand pressure to move it in either direction.
