Slaughter Singer card art
Slaughter Singer hands every creature with toxic or infect a free +1/+1 counter each time it attacks, turning incremental poison pressure into a closing clock without spending any mana per trigger. The three-mana body is forgettable on its own, but in any dedicated proliferate or poison shell it pulls well above its weight.

Vishgraz, the Doomhive

Vishgraz, the Doomhive

41.9% of decks · synergy 0.40

Vishgraz, the Doomhive floods the board with toxic Mites, and Slaughter Singer turns every attack step into a counter accumulation event — the anthem-like effect means those 1/1s are suddenly threatening to close poison counts in two or three swings instead of five.

02
Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa

Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa

35.1% of decks · synergy 0.33

Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa rewards going wide with corrupted creatures, and Slaughter Singer's trigger stacks counters on each attacker simultaneously, letting Ixhel hit the corrupted threshold faster while also making each toxic creature a more immediate threat.

Slaughter Singer is a Commander card, full stop — the multiplayer table is the only context where a three-mana 2/2 that buffs attackers slowly earns its slot, because poison decks have the time and board presence to leverage it. In competitive 1v1 formats like Modern or Legacy, ten poison counters is a viable kill condition but the card is simply too slow and too small to matter against proactive strategies. Pioneer and other non-rotating sixty-card formats offer no serious toxic or infect shell that would welcome a three-drop this passive. Stick to Commander, and specifically to commanders that generate multiple toxic attackers — outside that context, Slaughter Singer sits in the binder.

Price Context

Current price

$0.25 bulk tier

At $0.25, Slaughter Singer is bulk, and that price is appropriate for a card with a narrow home and no competitive demand pulling it up. It's a safe pickup for any poison or proliferate Commander build — the floor is already the floor.
