Slashing Tiger is a 4/4 trample for five mana with no enters-the-battlefield effect and no evasion beyond trample — it's a vanilla beater in a format where five mana buys you game-warping threats. There is almost always a better creature at this slot, and Slashing Tiger rarely makes the cut in competitive Commander lists.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Slashing Tiger competes against five-mana creatures that draw cards, generate tokens, ramp, or win on the spot — it does none of those things, and it won't survive long enough to matter. Pauper is the one format where Slashing Tiger sees plausible play: a 4/4 trample at common is a real clock in a format with limited removal and smaller bodies. In Legacy and Vintage it's strictly unplayable — the power bar is too high for a vanilla 4/4 to register. Oathbreaker shares Commander's density of efficient threats, so the same logic applies: Slashing Tiger is unlikely to earn a slot.

Price Context
Current price
unknown tier
Price data for Slashing Tiger isn't currently available, but as a bulk common with no competitive applications it almost certainly sits at or near $0.25 or less. It's not worth picking up for any constructed purpose — if you need it for a collection or cube at the lowest rarity tier, expect to find it in a bulk bin.
