Skyship Plunderer puts a +1/+1 counter, a loyalty counter, a charge counter, or any other counter type onto a permanent you control every time it connects — effectively doubling up on whatever engine you're already running. A 2/1 flier for two mana is a fine rate, and in the right shell that triggered ability is engine-level value.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Skyship Plunderer is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but Commander is the only format where it sees meaningful play. In 60-card formats the trigger is too conditional — connecting reliably against interaction-heavy tables is harder, and there are faster, more redundant ways to proliferate or accumulate counters. In Commander, though, the flying body dodges ground stalls and the trigger scales with whatever counter-based commander you're running, making Skyship Plunderer a low-cost, high-upside include in the right 99.

Pricing data isn't available at this time, but Skyship Plunderer is a narrow, single-printing uncommon with a real niche — expect it to sit in the $0.50–$2.00 range at most vendors. If you're building a counters deck, pick it up now rather than waiting; niche uncommons with genuine synergy applications have a habit of quietly spiking when a new commander pushes the archetype.
