Skirk Volcanist punches through blockers by dealing 1 damage to each creature blocking it for every Goblin spell you cast — stack enough triggers and it clears a path without combat tricks. Skirk Volcanist is a Commander card through and through — the trigger needs critical mass of Goblin spells to pay off, and only the 100-card singleton format gives Goblin tribal the density and redundancy to deliver that.
