Sigardian Zealot drops a +1/+1 counter on every Human you control at the start of combat — across a full board, that's a game-ending pump for five mana. The rate is real, and in any Human-tribal shell that can protect it for even one swing, it closes games.

Kyler, Sigardian Emissary
Kyler, Sigardian Emissary already stacks counters on himself whenever a Human enters; Sigardian Zealot turns that engine into a board-wide threat by spreading counters to every Human at combat, making the whole team a problem instead of just the commander.

Sigardian Zealot is a Commander card through and through — its payoff scales with the number of creatures you control, and only EDH's 100-card singleton format reliably puts enough Humans on the battlefield to make five mana feel like a bargain. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, it's too slow and too reliant on a board state that those formats never allow you to build. Commander is the only context where Sigardian Zealot earns its slot, specifically in Human-tribal builds where the combat-step trigger can hit six or more creatures.

$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Sigardian Zealot sits firmly in bulk territory, which means the financial barrier to inclusion is zero. Bulk rares with a narrow home tend to stay cheap indefinitely, so there's no urgency to pick up copies — but there's also no reason not to.
