Sigardian Paladin gives your whole team a pump whenever a creature with a +1/+1 counter attacks — payoff that scales with board size rather than sitting idle. The three-mana cost is fair for a permanent anthem effect, but it only matters if you're already built around counters.

Commander is where Sigardian Paladin actually has a home, specifically in Selesnya or Abzan counter-matters builds where attackers like Hangarback Walker tokens or Hardened Scales synergies make the trigger fire repeatedly across a wide board. In Modern and Pioneer it's too slow and too narrow — counter-based aggro there wants the counters to already be the payoff, not a secondary pump trigger on a 3/2. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest. Stick to Commander, and only then in a dedicated counters shell.

$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Sigardian Paladin is deep bulk — grab a copy without thinking twice if the archetype fits. Bulk rares with narrow applications don't climb unless the synergy gets pushed in a future set, so treat it as a cheap role-player, not a pickup with upside.
