Shared Trauma mills each opponent for X cards where X is the number of players who paid mana into it — in a four-player game, that's up to 3X mill per cast, scaling harder than almost anything else in the format. The catch is that it requires table cooperation or a Doomsday Excruciator-style workaround to hit its ceiling, making it a build-around rather than a plug-and-play spell.

Commander is where Shared Trauma actually lives — the four-player default means the multiplier is always at three, and dedicated mill commanders can chain it with enough mana to end games. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but functionally irrelevant; the sorcery speed, the mana-intensive scaling, and the absence of guaranteed cooperators make it uncompetitive in those formats. Oathbreaker offers the same multiplayer appeal as Commander at a smaller table, which cuts the ceiling somewhat but keeps the core math intact.
