Set Adrift puts any nonland permanent on top of its owner's library — a clean tempo hit that removes a threat and taxes them a draw. Six mana is steep for that effect, but the delve clause routinely brings it to two or three, which is where the card becomes genuinely playable.

In Commander, Set Adrift occupies a narrow niche: graveyard-heavy blue decks that can reliably fuel delve and want a catch-all answer to permanents that dodge destroy and exile effects. The bounce-to-top interaction is punishing against commanders and combo pieces, since the opponent effectively loses their next draw. In Legacy and Vintage, faster clocks and more efficient removal make Set Adrift too slow even with full delve — Swords to Plowshares and Force of Will outclass it at every angle. Modern and Pioneer offer occasional homes in self-mill or reanimator shells, but dedicated removal almost always does the job cleaner. The card's ceiling is squarely in Commander, and even there it earns its slot only when the graveyard fuels it consistently.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Set Adrift is deep bulk — a pure throw-it-in, no-regret pickup for any deck that wants it. Bulk uncommons with narrow applications rarely move off the floor, so don't expect the price to budge.
