Serpent of the Endless Sea is a massive, evasive body for one blue mana in any deck that runs enough Islands — its power and toughness scale directly with your Island count, and islandwalk makes it unblockable against any blue player at the table. The cost is real: it's a do-nothing 0/0 in non-Island-heavy builds, and it demands a critical mass of basic Islands to be worth the slot.

In Commander, Serpent of the Endless Sea earns its slot in mono-blue or heavily blue decks running 20-plus basic Islands, where it reliably hits double-digit stats and blanks blue opponents with islandwalk. Outside of those shells — say, a five-color good-stuff deck with only a handful of Islands — it's unplayable. In Pauper, where mono-blue Delver and similar Island-dense strategies exist, it's a fringe threat that loses out to more consistent commons. Legacy and Vintage have far too much efficient interaction for a vanilla creature to matter, regardless of size.

$0.29 bulk tier
At $0.29, Serpent of the Endless Sea is pure bulk — a throw-in card with no financial floor to speak of. It won't hold or gain value, but it also costs almost nothing to test in the right Island-heavy list.
