Serene Sleuth turns every Clue token into a cantrip engine — the longer it stays in play, the more cards you draw for free every combat. Two mana to cast is a low enough bar that it fits into almost any white or blue deck running artifact synergies.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Serene Sleuth does its best work, specifically in artifact and investigate strategies that generate Clue tokens as a byproduct of doing other things. The card scales hard with token doublers and any commander that creates Clues on attack or entry, making the value accumulate quickly over a long game. Legacy and Vintage are legal but irrelevant — Serene Sleuth is too slow and too dependent on a board state to compete in those formats. Oathbreaker follows Commander rules closely enough that the same evaluate applies: good in the right shell, invisible in the wrong one.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Serene Sleuth is deep bulk — the kind of card you pick up in a trade binder without thinking twice. Bulk rares that enable specific synergy engines tend to stay cheap unless a commander pushes them into the spotlight, so don't expect price movement.
