In Commander, Self-Inflicted Wound fills a narrow slot: targeted removal that doubles as hand disruption against the two most creature-dense colors in the format. The problem is that at least one opponent in most pods won't be running green or white, so it sometimes sits useless in hand. In Modern and Pioneer, it's a sideboard card — specifically for Rhinos, Yawgmoth, or white weenie shells — not a mainboard inclusion. Legacy has better options at every point on the curve. Self-Inflicted Wound is essentially a Commander sideboard card wearing a 60-card format's clothing.
