Selesnya Sentry enters as a 3/3 with vigilance for two mana — that rate is strong — but the cost is a land entering tapped, which in practice means you're trading tempo for a body. It's a fine card in slow, token-heavy or graveyard-adjacent Commander shells, and nearly unplayable anywhere the game moves fast.

Selesnya Sentry is a bulk common, and that's where it belongs in almost every competitive context. In Commander, the vigilance and body are relevant in go-wide builds that want cheap creatures with board presence, but the land-enters-tapped drawback stings hardest in the early game where you're fighting to hit your curve. Pauper is the one format where Selesnya Sentry deserves real consideration — two mana for a 3/3 with vigilance clears the common-card power bar, and the land penalty matters less in a slower, grindier meta. In Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage, the card simply doesn't compete; two mana buys you substantially more than a vanilla-adjacent body, and the downside is unacceptable at those speeds.

$0.02 bulk tier
At $0.02, Selesnya Sentry is deep bulk — you'll find it in any common box for essentially nothing. That price is stable by definition; there's no demand pressure that would move a card like this, so grab it when you need it and don't think twice.
