Seer's Lantern card art
Seer's Lantern gives you a mana rock and a repeatable scry stapled together for three mana — functional, but barely competitive with the field. Three-mana rocks that don't accelerate you into turn-three plays are a steep ask in 2024 Commander, and the scry outlet only matters if you have spare colorless mana to burn.

Seer's Lantern sees essentially no play outside Commander, and even there it sits on the fringe. In Pauper it's technically legal but common mana rocks with better stats crowd it out. Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, and Vintage don't want three-mana rocks that don't produce colored mana or enter untapped with upside. In Commander, the one home where Seer's Lantern earns consideration is colorless or artifact-matters decks — Breya, Brago, or Traxos builds that care about artifact count and can actually activate the scry without sacrificing board tempo.

Price Context

Current price

$0.30 bulk tier

At $0.30, Seer's Lantern is pure bulk — pick it up freely if you need a budget filler, but don't expect it to hold even that floor long-term given how deep the competition is at this price point. It's a fine placeholder until you slot in Arcane Signet or a two-mana rock that actually moves the needle.
