Seed Guardian trades a 3/4 reach body for a token whose size scales with the creatures already in your graveyard — the payoff is real, but only if you're already running a creature-heavy shell that fills the bin naturally. In Commander, Seed Guardian is a low-stakes inclusion for graveyard-centric green-black decks that want a death trigger rewarding creature density — it will never be a priority tutor target, but it reliably produces a meaningful token in the late game. Outside Commander, Seed Guardian is legal in Legacy, Vintage, Modern, Pioneer, and Oathbreaker, but sees essentially no competitive play in any of them; the five-mana cost and conditional payoff can't compete with the efficient threats those formats demand. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card variant where a grindy value piece could occasionally find a home, but only in a dedicated self-mill shell. Treat Seed Guardian as a Commander-exclusive option — anywhere else, the slot costs too much for what it delivers.
