See Beyond card art
See Beyond draws you a card and shuffles one back into your library for two mana — clean card selection, not card advantage. Outside of niche shuffle-matters builds like Lyse Hext, it's outclassed by cantrips that replace themselves without giving something back.

Lyse Hext

Lyse Hext

18.3% of decks · synergy 0.18

Lyse Hext's ability rewards you for casting spells and caring about what's on top of your library, making See Beyond's shuffle effect a repeatable setup tool rather than a consolation prize for putting a card back.

Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student

14.2% of decks · synergy 0.14

Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student wants to flip as fast as possible by drawing cards, and See Beyond contributes to that count while letting you bury a dead card — exactly what a cheap cantrip needs to do in this shell.

In Commander, See Beyond is a role-player, not a staple — it earns a slot only when your commander explicitly rewards shuffling or library manipulation, otherwise a simple Ponder or Preordain does more. In Pauper, the common card pool is shallow enough that two-mana cantrips with upside see fringe play, and the shuffle clause occasionally matters in combo shells that need to redraw a used piece. Legacy and Vintage have access to Brainstorm, which does everything See Beyond does and more for one mana, so it doesn't compete there. See Beyond is legal in Oathbreaker, where the compressed game speed makes cheap interaction more valuable, though the same commanders that want it in EDH want it there too.

Price Context

Current price

$0.37 bulk tier

At $0.37, See Beyond sits firmly in bulk territory — pick it up without thinking. Bulk cantrips rarely spike unless they land on a ban list or enable a newly discovered combo, so don't expect movement in either direction.
