Sea God's Scorn bounces a creature and replaces itself — full stop, that's a solid rate for a blue instant. Five mana is on the high end, but the built-in card draw means it never strands you, which separates it from most removal-lite blue bounce spells.

Sea God's Scorn is a Commander card first and almost exclusively. In eternal formats like Legacy and Vintage, five mana for bounce-plus-draw is simply too slow — Brainstorm and Ponder fill your cantrip slot, and Karakas handles problematic creatures for free. Modern and Pioneer have tighter curves with faster threats, so Sea God's Scorn can't keep pace there either. In Commander, the calculus shifts: sorcery speed removal trades up against opponents' haymakers, and the card replacement keeps your hand stocked in long multiplayer games, making this a playable if unexciting option in Merfolk-tribal or heavy-blue builds.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Sea God's Scorn sits in the deepest bulk tier — filler-box territory. That price is stable because demand is low and supply is high; there's no spike risk here, just a cheap slot-filler if you need budget bounce with upside.
