Scrying Glass lets you pay two mana and tap to look at an opponent's hand — conditional on guessing their commander's color count correctly — which is a narrow effect that rarely justifies a deck slot. Outside of highly specific political or information-warfare builds, there are cleaner ways to generate card advantage.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Scrying Glass occupies a fringe role at best — the color-count guess is trivially correct once you know the table's commanders, but spending a card and two mana per activation to peek at one hand rarely competes with actual draw or group-slug effects. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but ignore it entirely; the formats move too fast for a tap-and-guess effect to matter. Oathbreaker is legal but equally uninterested. Scrying Glass is a legal card in several formats and a relevant card in none of them.

Price Context
Current price
$0.39 bulk tier
At $0.39, Scrying Glass sits firmly in bulk territory, and that price reflects its demand accurately. It's not a card that holds or climbs — pick it up if a specific build calls for it, but don't expect any upside beyond the effect itself.
