Scion of Opulence card art
Scion of Opulence converts each nontoken creature death into a Treasure, turning any creature-heavy board into a mana engine with zero additional setup. The cost is showing up as a 2/2 for three mana that does nothing until something dies — in slower pods that's fine, in faster ones it's a liability that Cormela, Glamour Thief and Strefan, Maurer Progenitor decks can absorb because they're killing things constantly anyway.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Strefan, Maurer Progenitor

Strefan, Maurer Progenitor

45.7% of decks · synergy 0.44

Strefan, Maurer Progenitor demands Blood tokens to load up his attack trigger, and Scion of Opulence feeds that economy by converting every creature death — including the Vampire tokens Strefan generates — into Treasures that pay for the next threat.

02
Evelyn, the Covetous

Evelyn, the Covetous

34.4% of decks · synergy 0.34

Evelyn, the Covetous runs a five-color pile that constantly needs off-color mana to cast exiled cards, and Scion of Opulence's Treasures fill exactly that gap, turning each creature trade into flexible fixing.

03
Olivia Voldaren

Olivia Voldaren

15.9% of decks · synergy 0.15

Olivia Voldaren's game plan involves stealing creatures and picking off small blockers, both of which feed Scion of Opulence's trigger reliably and help bankroll Olivia's own activated abilities.

04
Olivia, Crimson Bride

Olivia, Crimson Bride

14.7% of decks · synergy 0.13

Olivia, Crimson Bride reanimates Vampires that often die again to legend rule or removal, and Scion of Opulence converts those recurring deaths into the mana needed to keep the loop going.

Format Analysis

oathbreaker

Commander is where Scion of Opulence lives — multiplayer tables run enough creatures that its death trigger fires multiple times per turn cycle, and the Rakdos color identity slots it cleanly into Vampire, sacrifice, and aristocrats shells. Legacy and Vintage are legal but irrelevant; creature-death payoffs compete with far more efficient engines in those formats and Scion doesn't make the cut. Oathbreaker is the only other constructed format where it sees any play, and only in the same Rakdos shells that want it in Commander.
