Scarwood Hag is a narrow, situational creature that requires tapping and paying one green mana to give a target Forest-walking creature forestwalk until end of turn — a modest effect stapled to a 1/3 body for two mana. Outside of dedicated forestwalk or Dryad-tribal shells, the opportunity cost is almost never worth a deck slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Scarwood Hag sees essentially no competitive play in Legacy or Vintage despite being legal in both — the effect is too marginal and the formats too fast for a do-nothing body. In Commander, where the 100-card singleton format rewards flexibility and impact, Scarwood Hag only earns a slot in decks specifically engineering forestwalk as an evasion package, such as those built around Yedora, Grave Gardener or similar Forest-matters commanders. Oathbreaker shares Commander's singleton constraints and the same verdict applies: too conditional to pull weight outside a narrow build.

Price Context
Current price
$0.93 bulk tier
At $0.93, Scarwood Hag sits at the high end of bulk — more than its narrow playability justifies. Demand is low enough that the price is unlikely to climb without a reprint or a breakout Commander deck that suddenly makes forestwalk a viable evasion strategy.
