Scalpelexis
Creature — Beast
Flying (This creature can't be blocked except by creatures with flying or reach.)

Scalpelexis is a mill-and-exile engine that punishes opponents for running redundant cards — every hit that matches a card already in exile exiles four more, snowballing fast in singleton-light formats. Six mana for a 4/5 flier is a real cost, but in a deck built around milling or evasive combat damage, it earns that slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Scalpelexis does the most work — 99-card singleton decks mean fewer duplicates, but in a four-player pod the cumulative exile pressure across three opponents' libraries adds up quickly, and the flying body is hard to ignore. In Legacy and Vintage, six mana is a non-starter; those formats end before Scalpelexis ever attacks. Oathbreaker is a reasonable home if your signature spell triggers combat damage or mills, but the 60-card singleton constraint makes the cascade trigger fire less reliably than you'd hope.
