Savor gains you life equal to the food sacrificed's converted mana cost and draws a card — relevant life total padding and card advantage stapled together for three mana. In Camellia, the Seedmiser builds that stack food tokens as a matter of course, making Savor a clean payoff rather than a setup cost.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Camellia, the Seedmiser
Camellia, the Seedmiser generates food tokens as a byproduct of playing Forests, so Savor slots in as a natural drain-and-refuel that converts that food surplus directly into cards and life.

Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar
Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar rewards food sacrifice at every angle, and Savor turns each sacrificed token into a card draw trigger while padding the life total that aggressive decks threaten to strip away.

Ygra, Eater of All
Ygra, Eater of All converts food into power, and Savor lets that same food engine generate card advantage on the way out — each sacrifice does double duty under Ygra's replacement effect.

Maha, Its Feathers Night
Maha, Its Feathers Night cares about life loss, and Savor's life gain creates a swing that keeps Maha's pilot in range to weaponize that life total across multiple turns.

Savor is legal everywhere but sees virtually no play outside Commander, where the food archetype has enough support to make a three-mana sorcery worth a slot. In Commander it fills a specific role in food-sacrifice builds: it converts a token into a card and cushions the life total in one action, which is exactly the kind of incidental value those decks want. In 60-card formats the rate is simply too slow — modern Food shells like Urza's Saga builds or Ovalchase Daredevil loops want faster payoffs, and three mana at sorcery speed for one card draw doesn't clear that bar. Pauper food support is sparse enough that Savor never gets a real audition there either.

Price Context
Current price
$0.20 bulk tier
At $0.20, Savor sits firmly in bulk territory and is unlikely to climb without a spike in competitive food play that hasn't materialized. Grab a copy freely when building a food Commander deck — there's no meaningful price risk at this tier.
