Safana, Calimport Cutthroat card art
Safana, Calimport Cutthroat generates a Treasure for each opponent whenever you complete a dungeon — in a deck built around dungeon looping, that's three Treasures per loop before you've spent a single mana on payoffs. The ceiling is high enough that Time Sieve can turn those tokens into infinite turns, and Sefris of the Hidden Ways makes assembling that loop trivially consistent.

Sefris of the Hidden Ways

Sefris of the Hidden Ways

25.4% of decks · synergy 0.24

Sefris of the Hidden Ways loops Dungeon: Dungeon of the Mad Mage on every creature death trigger, and Safana, Calimport Cutthroat converts each completion into a pile of Treasures — fuel for the entire engine and combo payoffs like Time Sieve sitting right on top.

02
Acererak the Archlich

Acererak the Archlich

11.0% of decks · synergy 0.11

Acererak the Archlich completes dungeons at instant speed by bouncing himself back to hand, which means Safana, Calimport Cutthroat produces Treasures every time Acererak re-enters — a mana-positive loop that pays for itself the moment you have enough opponents.

Safana, Calimport Cutthroat is a Commander card through and through — the dungeon mechanic exists only in that format's ecosystem, and the Treasure payoff scales directly with the four-player default. In Legacy and Vintage, where she's technically legal, there's no competitive incentive to venture into dungeons when faster, more linear strategies dominate. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander format where she could see fringe play, but the two-player constraint cuts her Treasure output in half and blunts the engine substantially. Play her in Commander or not at all.
