Ruthless Disposal exiles two target creatures or planeswalkers — no indestructible escape, no regeneration clause to argue about — at the cost of discarding two cards and sacrificing a creature. That's a steep three-resource payment, and it only pencils out in decks that want cards in the graveyard or have fodder they're happy to sacrifice.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Ruthless Disposal sees the most play, specifically in black graveyard and reanimator shells that treat the discard and sacrifice as fueling the engine rather than paying a cost. Outside Commander, the card is legal in Legacy, Vintage, Modern, Pioneer, and Oathbreaker, but those formats have cheaper, less conditional removal — Path to Exile and Fatal Push don't ask you to pitch two cards and a creature to answer one threat. Ruthless Disposal's double-exile ceiling is genuinely powerful against indestructible permanents and graveyard-reliant creatures, but that ceiling only justifies the cost when your deck actively profits from the downside.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Ruthless Disposal is deep bulk — it costs less than a sleeve and you'll find copies in any common box. Bulk rare prices this low don't move unless a deck breaks into mainstream competitive play, which is unlikely here, so buy as many as you need without a second thought.
