Rustmouth Ogre destroys an artifact every time it deals combat damage to a creature, turning every trade or block into free removal. Six mana for a 4/4 with no evasion is a real cost, and in most metas that price tag is too steep for what amounts to conditional, combat-dependent interaction.

Commander is the only realistic home for Rustmouth Ogre, and even there it needs a dedicated artifact-hate shell to justify the slot — think Breya, Etherium Shaper mirrors or Daretti, Scrap Savant tables where blowing up artifacts on contact actually changes games. In Legacy and Vintage it's unplayable; six mana for a creature that requires combat damage to trigger removal doesn't come close to the efficiency those formats demand. Modern similarly has no room for it. Rustmouth Ogre is a Commander-only card, and a narrow one at that.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Rustmouth Ogre is deep bulk — you're not paying for the card, you're paying for the sleeve. That price reflects the demand accurately: it's a situational six-drop that sees very little play, and there's no pressure pushing it higher.
