Rootrider Faun is a two-mana mana dork that taps for any color, making it one of the most flexible early accelerants in the game. The body being a 1/2 is irrelevant — you run it because turn-two five-color commanders are worth a vanilla creature slot.

In Commander, Rootrider Faun earns its slot in any deck with three or more colors that wants redundancy past Arcane Signet and the format's best one-drops. It's strictly worse than Birds of Paradise in Legacy and Modern, where the one-mana rate is the entire reason to play a mana creature — two mana for this effect is too slow when the format moves faster. In Pioneer and Standard, the lack of competitive ramp decks leaning on any-color dorks limits its ceiling, though it's a fine roleplayer in multicolor goodstuff builds where the fixing matters more than the speed. Pauper is where Rootrider Faun genuinely competes, since the color-fixing density at common drops off sharply and a two-mana any-color dork is a real resource.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Rootrider Faun is deep bulk — pick up as many copies as you need without thinking about it. Demand from Commander players is steady but not explosive, so this price is stable rather than a window closing.
