Roc Egg card art
Roc Egg is a three-mana 0/3 that leaves a 3/3 flying Roc token when it dies — the body is negligible, but the death trigger is the entire point. Outside of Atla Palani, Nest Tender shells that need cheap, high-toughness eggs to crack, it has almost no home.

Atla Palani, Nest Tender turns every egg death into a free creature cheat, and Roc Egg is one of the cheapest eggs available — three mana gets it on the battlefield where Atla can sacrifice it immediately, skipping the 3/3 token entirely and dropping whatever monster is waiting in the deck.

Roc Egg is legal in Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Commander, and Oathbreaker, but it sees essentially no play outside Commander. In competitive formats it's simply a 0/3 for three mana with an underpowered payoff — nothing about that rate survives contact with Legacy or Modern card quality. In Commander, the card exists almost exclusively as an Atla Palani, Nest Tender piece; in any other 100-card build, a 3/3 flier death trigger on a three-drop isn't pulling weight.
