Roadside Blowout kills a creature and replaces itself — instant-speed, one card in, one card out — for two mana. It's clean removal that doesn't cost you card advantage, which clears the bar for inclusion in any black deck that wants to trade efficiently.

In Commander, Roadside Blowout earns a slot because card-neutral removal is genuinely hard to find at this cost — trading one-for-one without going down a card matters when games go long and hands run dry. In competitive 1v1 formats like Modern and Pioneer, it's too conditional: destroying a nonblack creature is fine until you run into the wrong matchup, and better options like Fatal Push and Infernal Grasp exist. Legacy and Vintage have even less patience for it. Standard is where Roadside Blowout is most likely to see rotation-dependent play if the removal pool is shallow enough to reward it.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Roadside Blowout is deep bulk — you're picking this out of a common box, not budgeting for it. That price reflects its limited competitive ceiling, but for Commander players it means there's no reason not to own a copy.
