Rix Maadi Guildmage

In Commander, Rix Maadi Guildmage occupies a narrow role: repeatable hand disruption and drain in Rakdos shells that want to grind opponents out over many turns. The discard ability is best when opponents are already low on cards; hitting a full grip once rarely decides a game at a four-player table. In Legacy and Vintage, it never sees play — the competition at two mana is too steep and neither ability is efficient enough for those formats' speed. Modern and Pioneer are the same story: the abilities cost too much mana to be competitive, and better discard and drain options exist at every point on the curve. Commander is the only home where its repeatable, incremental pressure has enough time to matter.
