Risen Necroregent card art
Risen Necroregent lands as a 4/4 that immediately replaces itself by raising a creature from your graveyard as a tapped 4/4 Zombie — that's two bodies and a card's worth of value stapled to a single ETB. The cost is seven mana and no evasion, so it lives and dies by whether your deck can protect it long enough to matter.

In Commander, Risen Necroregent is a reasonable top-end payoff for Zombie tribal and graveyard-value decks — seven mana is steep but acceptable in a format where games go long and a two-for-one on ETB carries real weight. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, seven mana is nearly unplayable; dedicated reanimator decks would rather cheat something into play for two or three mana than cast Risen Necroregent fairly. Legacy and Vintage have the same problem at a higher power ceiling, where seven mana buys you something game-ending, not a pair of 4/4s. Standard is the one exception where the curve is compressed enough that a late-game value creature sees real play, and Risen Necroregent's floor of a 4/4 that creates another 4/4 is genuinely competitive there.

Price Context

Current price

$0.12 bulk tier

At $0.12, Risen Necroregent is pure bulk — the kind of card you pick up as a throw-in or pull from a draft cube without a second thought. It has no significant competitive demand to drive the price up, so expect it to stay at this floor unless it finds a breakout Standard application.
